Introduction
I could not imagine growing up in a more magical place than Wadi Rum, home to the Bedouin people for thousands of years. Wadi Rum, also known as valley of the moon, is home to my tribe Al Zalabeh. You cannot travel to the super market without seeing a few uncles or cousins along the way. We live a simple life full of laughs, good food and good company.
Rather than a tour of the desert we give you a look into life in the desert. Whether you choose to explore by camel, jeep or to walk the steps of Lawrence of Arabia, you will not leave disappointed. We have plenty of adventures for you depending on your interest and time frame. Um Adaami is the highest peak in Wadi Rum from where you get a magnificent view of the Red Sea and Saudi Arabia. For more advanced trekkers you could explore the Rakabat Canyon. For those who wish for a more relaxing vacation, you can visit Lawrence Spring with a picnic lunch and unbeatable scenery. There is always shade to be found to enjoy a good read or to rest the mind from everyday worries. When the sun sets, enjoy star gazing and try to keep count of the numerous shooting stars.
I believe the desert is often underestimated by thoughts of it being a dry and barren place. I hope to share with people from around the world the hidden and simple beauty of my home. After a day of adventure let us welcome you to our tent for sweet tea (Bedouin whiskey) and some traditional cooked food. With a full belly, listen to Bedouin music or settle in for a quiet night of star gazing. We have everything you need to feel at home when visiting. Blankets, beds, Bedouin tents, shower, toilet etc. are all available for you. It is also highly recommended to grab your mattress and blanket and join us under the stars for an unforgettable night.
The desert is a wonderful reminder of how rich a simple life can be. When you are away from everyday life and at one with nature, it is a truly peaceful experience; to feel the last warmth of daylight, the sand under your feet and the stillness of the mountains. Tasty food cooked in the fire is also a tradition - with this we are able to show you how our ancestors lived.
For us the nomadic life is one of freedom and respect for the environment. The desert has much to offer.
I look forward to offering you an unforgettable experience full of discovery and a newfound respect for alternative ways of life.
Welcome to Wadi Rum!
